Horizon Cloud on Azure Next-Gen doesn't lend itself very well to Azure Best practice Hub and spoke topologies, but there is a design that can make it work. Read more to find out. But first I will explain the problem.

Recently whilst deploying a new Horizon Cloud on Azure Next-Gen Edge (using an AKS cluster as opposed to a single Edge VM) the deployment failed after about 20 minutes with a pretty useless "deployment failed" error. The activity logs with Horizon Cloud didn't tell anything more and a retrying the deployment did not work either. As far as we knew, all the documented pre-requisites were in place.

A customer with 10,000+ non-persistent VDI users got in touch about and long running issue that was generating a lot of noise on the service desk, i.e. approx. 50-100 calls per day, and affecting the productivity of around 1% of their workforce.
